A Study in Philippians 1

  A Study in Philippians Chapter 1 Most likely Philippians was written by Paul when he was a prisoner of Rome in A.D. 62. Paul was severely flogged and throw into prison and put their feet in stocks Acts 16:23-24. Lydia was converted in Philippi Acts 16:14. The church was founded while Paul was on his second missionary journey. Paul’s tone is very affectionate as he lets the church know of his prayers for them vs.4 and thankfulness for their partnership in the gospel. The word participation in vs.5 is koinonia- fellowship, association, community, joint participation. The word gospel is evangelion – good tidings of salvation through Christ.
