It is important for the believer to understand that God has given us His Holy Spirit in order to help us and guide us in our daily walk with Him. Below is a list of verses and a brief explanation of what the role of the Spirit is in our lives and His ministry to us.
John 3:3,5- Jesus said that a person has to be born of water
(natural birth) and the Spirit to see the kingdom of God. One of the role of the Spirit is
regeneration.
Romans 8:11- The Spirit indwells the believer. The word dwells is oikeo which means to dwell
in. It is the indwelling power of the Spirit that ultimately will raise up the
believer at the resurrection.
1 John 2:20, 27- He anoints- His anointing teaches us all
things. The Spirit bears witness of
Jesus and reminds the believer of Jesus’ words.
He “takes of Mine, and will disclose it to you.” Verse 15 of John 16.
John 16:13- He guides- the word guide is hodegeo which means
to be a guide, lead on one’s way, to guide, to be a guide or a teacher. The Spirit will guide into all truth and will
speak what he hears.
2 Thess 2:13- Through sanctification of the Spirit and faith
in the truth God chose them from the beginning for salvation.
Romans 8:16, Hebrews 10:15.
The Spirit bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God.
John 14:16-26- Comforts- the Father sent us the Holy Spirit
who is our helper
Romans 14:17- The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and
joy in the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 2:10-16- God reveals all truth through the
Spirit that searches all things, even the depths of God.
Galatians 5:22,23- The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ,gentleness and self control
1 Corinthians 12:3-11- gives good gifts- to each believer a
manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. Verse 11 indicates he works all these things,
distributing gifts to each individual just as He wills.
Romans 8:26- the Holy Spirit intercedes for us
with groanings too deep for words.
