Seems odd that it is already Friday evening and another week has come and gone. I had a pretty good week of work. I am getting two news kids to visit. That should raise me to over 20 hours a week at least. It has been bitterly cold most of the week. This morning it was only 18 degrees outside. I had to run the car for a while to get the ice off of it.
I got a new book from the library about ADD called "Driven to Distraction" about treating and understanding ADD. I thought it would be helpful to read since several of the people I visit have it. Two or three also have bi-polar disorder, which I have come to find out has different types to it. There is bi-polar I and II and a more mild form of it where the mania is less severe, but the depression is greater.
We had snow again in the beginning of the week. The second storm of the year. We got about a quarter of an inch that stuck, but it was snowing for quite a while where it did not stick. It didn't happen on a school day this time, so there wasn't any delays or closures. I did get a lot of salt on the car though because the roads were terrible and I was out in it on Monday. There was even a tractor trailer that tipped over in the middle of the interstate.

Snow Today
The big deal of the day is that we got some snow today. It is 10:30 am and the ground is about half covered now. Freezing rain is coming down and school was cancelled. In West Virginia this would have been no big deal, but they don't have the snow plows or things like that here. The kids seem excited that they get to play the Playstation and Wii and don't have to go to school today.
They say that most of this is suppose to be gone by tomorrow. We have another chance for snow next week.
Other than that, everything is pretty much the same. I got 2 new clients to visit. My youngest is now 6 years old. I am thinking we will probably get together on Saturday.

new job
First really full week on the new job has just ended. I am going to have my hands full dealing with some of the problems that are being faced by the people I am seeing. I kinda feel it is a disadvantage for me to be from out of town and not from that area. Since I don't know what area activities are going on. But, the good news is that we can use the YMCA whenever we want for free. The company I work with has some sort of agreement with them. There is also the seniors center, which I am planning to take someone to next Tuesday. Apparently, for a dollar and a quarter you can get lunch there if you are a senior.
Another slight disadvantage for me is that it has been 20 years since I got my psychology degree. So, I am having to learn about things like bi-polar disorder and other things all over again. I got a couple of books from the library to study regarding these problems. I am hoping if I work hard that I will be able to go full time with them in a matter of a month or two.
I finished my training in Raleigh on Wednesday. I am so glad I didn't do a residency in Raleigh. That would have been way too far to drive 5 times a week. The trainer spent some time talking about writing notes, which I found a little difficult last time. You have to write down basically what you did to help the person reach their goals. The same old statement applies like it did with the nurses at the hospital, "If you don't write it down, then it didn't happen."

What does it mean to delight in God?
Jesus told us the two most important commandments in the Bible have to do with loving God and loving others. Psalm 37:4-6 tells us "Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; Trust also in HIm, and He will do it, And He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your judgment as the noonday." A friend pointed out these verses to me one day in college. I was struggling to understand how God speaks to us. One way, the friend said, was to understand what our role is and what role God has. Our role is to love God, to fellowship with Him, to walk with Him and to obey His Word. God's role is to guide and direct as He desires. We need to concentrate then on our own job and leave the rest to God.
This is the nature of the faith that we follow Paul told us in 1 Corinthians 13. It is about love and forgiveness and a God who is love. Psalm 136 repeats this phrase time and again, "For His lovingkindness is everlasting." I have wondered sometimes why it is repeated 26 times in this chapter. Maybe it is because we need to hear it. Maybe it is because we sometimes act and think as though God's love is like ours, that it is fickle and at times weak. But, thank God that He isn't like that. God's love is eternal. Is it any wonder then that the prayer that God will always honor is: God help me to love others more. God is interested in us reflecting Him.

my new job
I started a new job the other day and have been enjoying it. It is actually near the hospital where I worked for the last year. I was going to start nursing school also, but the finances aren't there for us, so we didn't do that. I am wondering why I didn't think of working in mental health earlier. Maybe this is just a good time for me to make this change.
I am still having difficulty getting back into the church. It seems to me most of the churches in this area are dead or dying.
