In the devotional that I read, Jesus is telling his disciples that he is soon to be going away. When he goes he send someone he calls the Comforter (also called the Advocate). He says this one will convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. Jesus actually said that it was to their advantage that he went away, which seems hard for me to believe.
I like the word "advocate". I am often an advocate for the people I work with in one sense or another. I speak for the person or bridge a gap when they aren't capable of doing so. It is a powerful word. It is a reminder that the Holy Spirit is the gap filler, the one who advocates for us before God the Father. Sometimes it is easy to think of how God might be mad because of how short we fall from his grace and the holiness he calls us to walk. In times like that, you can look at the word of God and realize that God Himself is the one who intercedes for you in the person of the Holy Spirit. He intervenes for Him and on your behalf. It is because of his grace and love which cannot be measured, that he does this for you and me.
It makes you realize how merciful and loving God is that He would first rescue us when we don't deserve it and then keep us by His power also and not our own. It also makes you think that God realizes fully how short we fall from his grace. That it doesn't surprise him when we fall short or shock him to know how dark our hearts can be.
It also makes me think that if God can love us anyway, despite that dark heart, that He also expects for us to love each other with that kind of love. Knowing fully that we don't deserve it, God is gracious and loving. Then, he expects for His children to act in the same manner.

diabetes care
As some may know, I started taking shots about a month ago for my diabetes Type II. I was diagnosed back in September 2001. I went in to the doctor's because of a cough and he did some tests and told me I had something worse than a cough. Then he did a bunch more tests and confirmed what the A1C had said. It is only because the oral medication hasn't worked as well that I asked my doctor to switch me to insulin shots. I have had a little more luck with that, though I am not feeling that great lately.
I'm not sure exactly what is wrong lately. Sometimes I am feeling a little dizzy and tired. Don't know if it is the diabetes or not. Today was a pretty rough day for me. I had to drive for about 45 minutes to my first appointment and was worn out by the time I got there. I stopped about 3/4 of the way there and checked my blood sugar and I was at around 254, so gave myself another 3 units to try and come down some. The mornings do seem to be the worst.
I have a check up in about 3 weeks, so the doctor can tell me what he thinks.

weekend
I spent most of the week trying to make up for a slow Monday, but I made all my goals for work. So, I am happy about that. My parents are here for the weekend to visit. We went to the Greensboro Science Center. They have some new animals in their zoological park that we hadn't seen before. The tigers were playing some and one of the workers was giving them some water.

Had a good day, but am very tired. Monday was a terrible day for me in terms of hours and that has set me back for the rest of the week. I may have to work two hours or more on Saturday to make up for it. It's funny that all that time I spent looking for work and now I am helping four different people with their job searches. So, all the stuff I learned about resumes and interviewing and everything else is now stuff I can share with others. That's kinda cool, how all those experiences come into play now.
Have been reading lately, "Hard Row" by Margaret Maron. She grew up in Raleigh and a lot of places that she mentions I have either been to or driven by and know where she is talking about. I hadn't read her before, but she is very easy to read.

Hello
I haven't written on here in a while since I have been busy with work. I have been full time now for about a month. Work is going well, but keeping me busy. I work with those who have mental health issues, mainly mood disorders. It can be hard since these people tend to be a little, well, moody! Not that I can't also be like that at times. My youngest right now is 6 and my oldest is 64.
I went to church yesterday, but didn't really like the sermon much. It was just at a little country church I hadn't tried yet now many miles from the house. I hate it when preachers apologize for not being a scholar or knowing alot about something. If you don't, then wait and study and preach on it later, but stop wasting my time.
I have been trying to get out and exercise some. We have plans to join the YMCA which should help. We've been there a few times and it is very nice. Right now, I am just walking or using the dumbbells that I have and doing some other exercises. So, basically, I feel like someone tried to break me in half today and very sore.
Hope all is going well with you. Drop me a note to say hello!

Current Reads
When I am not driving all over kingdom come I like to read. here's some good stuff that I hav been reading.
"The Green Acres of Asher Witherow" by M. Allen Cunningham. A good book about a young boy growing up in a small mining community of Nortonville back in the 1860-70's. The author makes it both believeable and uses beautifully descriptive words that makes you feel like you are there. You can really picture the scenes the author talks about. Good first book for this author.
"The Alpine Scandal" by Mary Daheim. Mary's books start getting similiar after a while, but it is still good and an easy read. Mary's main character is Emma Lord, who is a small town editor and owner of a local newspaper who always seems to stumble into a situation involving murder.
"Name Withheld" by J.A. Jance. J.P. Beaumont is the main character and very believeable character who serves as a homocide detective in the Northwest. Wealthy because of an inheritance from a short marriage. Beaumont isn't exactly a team player, but he is a great detective. Also a very easy read and enjoyable book.
